Elder Rasband, Devotionals, Newbies

Hola mi familia y amigos!!

So not much happens here during the week, I believe I´ve said in previous emails. But one thing that did happen was Elder Rasband came to Guatemala to visit all of the missionaries! He came on Saturday and it was such a cool experience! We saw a ton of missionaries from the Guatemala East mission but none from the other missions. I was kind of disappointed that there weren't any there from my mission. Anyway, let me start out this email with some words from Elder Rasband.

Here are some points I thought were very important for missionaries. You can apply them to your lives as well.

The first thing he made sure to tell us was the President Monson loves us and that he loves us. Throughout the meeting he always made sure that we knew that he loved us. One of the first things he told us was to not be whiners. Don´t whine about the companion you get and don't whine about where we get assigned to on our respective missions. He said we will have many experiences in the places were assigned and we need to those experiences for our mission and after our mission. I thought that was super cool of him to say. He said that if were whining while on the mission then that is pretty much mocking God because we were sent there for a reason and it wasn't to whine. We need to be happy with whatever trial we get because were going to use it later on in life to help someone else. He also said, focus on the work. We should not focus on what will happen after the mission or what is happening in the world while were on our missions. We just need to focus on the Lord and his work. Another thing that was important to me was that no matter what, we cannot leave someone without bearing witness of our brother Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. That is super important for missionaries and for members to realize. People are put in our path for a reason. So when we go outside and meet someone new, we cannot leave them without bearing testimony to what we know is true. As long as you are planting that seed you are being a good missionary. I love sharing my testimony now because I know everything about this church is true. I might start crying because I´m so overwhelmed with the spirit, and that's kind of embarrassing to be honest, but I´m ok with it because the I know the spirit is with me and I have a knowledge that this church is true.

Second thing is devotionals. I love the devotionals here. They bring so much spirit to us and I cant ever wait to hear who will speak to us next. Most of the devotionals are kind of old but they are always geared to missionary work and its so cool. Last night was different though, we got to watch a live one and listen to M. Russell Ballard. Here are some things he said.

Regardless of age, we are building our lives. It may be cheap or shoddy or it can be beautiful. It all depends on our attitude. This was something he said a lot, was that our actions and outcomes all have to do with our attitude towards things. We must have a good attitude when were teaching people so that they can feel the spirit as well as ourselves. We are all important and we have to develop the talent/skill of attitude and positive thoughts. One thing he also stressed was to set goals and to strive to accomplish them. Sorry I'll write more about him next week because I don't have much time to email!!

Newbies!! Last week we got a ton of new elders and sisters!! So funny stuff happens when you get new guys. What I like to do is kind of mean but super fun and hilarious. When they go do their laundry you can sneak up on them and shut the door with them in there. The door doesn't open from the inside so they get stuck in there! Haha so I've done it to them a couple times and they freak out. LET US OUT!!! Its super fun to mess with them. Of course were super nice to them as well though because we know how it feels to be the new guys.

Anyway I love all of you guys!! Make the most of your experiences in your lives because you don't want to stand before our Father in heaven with regrets about your life :) Sorry there wasn't much about me in the email but I felt that those things needed to be shared!
